Fans blast Tottenham after 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa in final home game of the season
Tottenham Hotspur’s final home game of the season, against Aston Villa, with the fans back in the stadium, did not go as per plans as they lost 2-1 after taking the lead.
In what could potentially have been Harry Kane’s final home game for Spurs, they took the lead just eight minutes in as Steven Bergwijn ended his long-running goal draught with a fine strike.
However, it was pretty much Villa from that point on, as a bizarre own goal from Sergio Reguilon offered them a way back into the game before Ollie Watkins put them in front in the 39th minute. It could have easily been 3-1 before half-time if not for a poor finish from Anwar El Ghazi and a save from Hugo Lloris.
Having been booed off at half-time, Tottenham seemed to have been charged up after the break as Bergwijn forced Emi Martinez in two fine saves in quick succession while Lloris once again kept Spurs in the game at the other end. However, the renewed vigour soon drained out as we hardly mustered any other chances of note before the game petered out to a loss or us.
More was expected from the team with the fans back in the stadium after quite a while. And while the start was positive enough, things went downhill pretty fast from thereon. Naturally the supporters were far from pleased with the display and lashed at the team on social medai.
Fan Reactions as Tottenham lose to Aston Villa at home
When Kane is gone, we are gonna be a mid table team at best, goodbye europe, 80% of these players are deadwood since 2019. What is even worse is, that these plastic fans in the stadium are supporting this crap performance, Bottleham at its best …

Everything that is wrong with this club, charging the fans £60 a ticket to watch this shit. The players will be doing a lap of shame at the end of the game I’m not a lap of honour or whatever it is. Absolutely embarrassing.

If I paid £60 for that shambles, I’d be leaving the toilet taps running to get my money’s worth

That’s it. That seals the deal. I’m no longer a Tottenham fan. I’ve been a supporter since 2009 and I had notifications on since 2014. I will no longer stand for this.
I’m taking my fanhood to Man City where they actually know how to win matches and trophies. Bye and good luck.— ʷDan (@danilthfc) May 19, 2021
