Tottenham manager target Antonio Conte set for Inter Milan exit

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Mirror), Tottenham Hotspur are on red-alert as Antonio Conte is set to quit as the manager of Serie A champions Inter Milan in 48 hours.

Tottenham are in the market for a new manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month. Former midfielder Ryan Mason was placed in charge of the team on an interim basis to see the season through. With the campaign now over, the club needs to secure a permanent replacement for Jose at the earliest.

Having had no luck with the pursuit of some of the targets, Tottenham may be set for a major boost with regard to their attempt to sign Conte. The 51-year-old is freshly coming on the back of a brilliant season during which he led Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in over ten years.

However, with the club in financial turmoil, the Serie A champions are set to be forced into offloading a number of key players this summer, something which is said to have left Conte furious. And, as a result, the Italian tactician is now making arrangements to secure a termination of contract with the newly-crowned Italian champions. (h/t Mirror)

This could open the up the possibility of Tottenham making a swoop for Conte. He is no stranger to Premier League, having led Chelsea to a title triumph and an FA Cup win in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Someone who has been as successful as Conte would undoubtedly be a huge signing for Tottenham as the next manager. Whether he is open to taking over the reins, with the team not participating in the Champions League next term remains to be seen. At the moment, though, it looks like the Italian could be on his way out of Inter Milan.
