Tottenham to meet with Real Madrid over Gareth Bale after new manager arrives
According to reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur will have a meeting with Real Madrid over the possibility of signing Gareth Bale once a new manager is appointed.
Bale returned to Tottenham last summer on a season-long loan deal, seven years after leaving for Real Madrid. And while he did struggle in the early parts of the season, the 31-year-old really picked up form towards the back end of the campaign.
His display on the final day of the 2020/21 campaign against Leicester City, when he came off the bench to score a match-winning brace, was stunning. In the end, Bale finished the season with an impressive return of 16 goals and 3 assists from 34 games across all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With his loan spell done, Bale will be back at Real Madrid ahead of the next season, where he does not have a future. As a result, there had been strong speculations that the Welsh international could end up hanging his boots soon after the UEFA Euro 2020 later this year. (h/t Daily Mail)
Fabrizio Romano, however, has dismissed those claims as fake. The Italian reporter even added that Bale is still waiting to take a decision on his future.
And as for his chances of making a return to Tottenham, Romano added that the club will meet with Real Madrid once a new manager has been appointed. Spurs are currently without a full-time manager following the sacking of Jose Mourinho last month.
Gareth Bale is not planning to retire after the Euros. Despite rumours, Bale is waiting to decide his future – he’s still under contract with Real Madrid and Tottenham meeting will take place once the new manager is appointed. But he’s not retiring: fake. ⚪️🏴 #Real #THFC

Bale may have had fitness issues but he showed that he can still be counted upon to deliver in front of goal, even if it is only from the bench. However, any return to Tottenham would depend on who the new manager is and if he sees a place for the Welshman in his plans.
