Transfer News: Joachim Andersen has chosen to join Tottenham in the summer, claims Jack Pitt-Brooke
Speaking on the View from the Lane Podcast, The Athletic reporter Jack Pitt-Brooke has delivered positive news for Tottenham fans, claiming that transfer target Joachim Andersen has chosen to join the Lilywhites in the summer.
Andersen spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Tottenham’s London rivals Fulham in the Premier League from French Ligue 1 outfit Olympique Lyon. And the Danish international made quite the impression in his debut season in England.
Indeed, Andersen emerged as one of the best performing players for Fulham even as they ended up facing the fate of relegation. Such was the defender’s impact that he was named the captain by manager Scott Parker with regular skipper Tom Cairney missing a large chunk of the campaign injured.
With the season now over, Andersen is back at Lyon, who are open to offloading the defender and Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in securing his services. In addition, Premier League runners-up Manchester United are also interested in signing the 24-year-old. (h/t The Telegraph)
Pitt-Brooke, though, has now claimed that Andersen would prefer a return to the Premier League again next season and has chosen to sign for Tottenham. However, the journalist does clarify that there is no agreement between Spurs and Lyon as things stand.
“Joachim Andersen has chosen that he would like to come to Spurs, but Spurs don’t at the moment have a deal with Lyon”.

Tottenham defence was largely underwhelming this term, especially in the second half. The likes of Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have been way too inconsistent while Toby Alderweireld isn’t getting any younger. So, securing a transfer for someone like Andersen would be a huge boost for Tottenham. And it bodes well that the 24-year-old wants to join the club as wel.
