Transfer News: Tottenham contacted by Bournemouth for Cameron Carter-Vickers
According to BBC’s Kris Temple on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur have been approached by EFL Championship club Bournemouth over a potential permanent transfer for Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Carter-Vickers came through the Tottenham youth academy. He made his first-team debut back in 2016 but has featured just four times for the senior team so far. The 24-year-old has had loan spells at Swansea City, Ipswich Town, Sheffield United, Stoke City and Luton Town in the past.
The 2020/21 campaign saw Carter-Vickers sign for Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal. And he enjoyed a fairly decent season as the Cherries finished in the playoff places but couldn’t make it to the playoff finals. The centre-back featured in 26 games across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up another. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With the USMNT international’s loan spell now done and dusted, he is set to be back at Tottenham. While Carter-Vickers’ contract with Spurs was supposed to expire at the end of the season, the club triggered a one-year extension option in order to protect his transfer value and cash in on him in the summer transfer window. Now, it is being claimed that Bournemouth, who are set for another season in the second division, are keen on signing Carter-Vickers on a permanent basis in the upcoming summer. To that end, the Cherries have now made contact with the north London giants, as reported by Kris Temple.
