Transfer News: Manchester United want to pursue Jadon Sancho instead of Tottenham ace Harry Kane in the summer

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are prioritizing a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger, Jadon Sancho, over Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane, in the summer transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to wait another year to pursue Erling Braut Haaland next summer. The Norwegian has reportedly left Kane out of his new plans that he has devised with the new Director of Football, John Murtough.

And hence, a £120m move is off in the summer for United. They would instead focus on the former Manchester City winger, Sancho, who would command a fee around Paul Pogba’s record transfer fee of £89m.

The club can make just one bumper signing in the summer due to their Covid-19 losses, whereby they have reportedly lost around £150m. Next season’s income could also be hampered if the stadiums do not open up fully.

One less pursuer

This is why, Solskjaer wants to drop the idea of Kane and chase Haaland next year. With his £65m release clause activated that summer, United could expect competition from Real Madrid.

Harry Kane is a wanted man in the transfer window with him having indicated he wants to team trophies, but he still has 3 years left on his contract and Daniel Levy will hence not let him go easily. (h/t Daily Mail)

Spurs’ new manager has not been revealed yet. But there is no doubt that no matter who comes, they would love to have Kane around in the team. He won the Golden Boot and the Playmaker award in the league this season and is rightly considered one of the best strikers of this generation.
