Transfer News: Paulo Gazzaniga bids farewell to fans ahead of Tottenham Hotspur exit
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga, posted a farewell message to fans on his social media account (h/t football.london) ahead of an exit in the summer transfer window.
The Argentine goalkeeper was signed by the club all the way back in 2017 from Southampton. It was always likely that he would come in as a number 2 behind Hugo Lloris, and that’s how it always was.
He made 37 appearances for the club in that time but lost his spot on the bench to Joe Hart, who joined the club last summer. And with no game-time in sight, he was loaned out to Elche in the January transfer window.
The former Argentine international found it tough to displace Elche’s keeper, Edgar Badia, initially. However, he broke into their first-team squad in the last couple of months, making 8 league appearances.
Farewell, Paulo
And earlier this week, it was revealed that both Gazzaniga, and left-back Danny Rose, will depart the club once their contract expires. (h/t football.london)
Following that, the 29-year-old shot-stopper bid his farewell to the fans on social media, saying:
“Dear Spurs fans:
I haven’t had the time to say goodbye to all of you at N17, but just wanted to say thank you for all your support during these four years I had the pleasure to wear the shirt of this great club. It has been an amazing journey full of unbelievable memories. I have learned a lot from teammates, staff, friends, and fans at Tottenham… To all of you: THANK YOU! All the best and hope to see you again. Paulo
