Transfer News: Crystal Palace after Tottenham Hotspur-linked manager Nuno Espirito Santo

A report by The Sun claims that Steve Parish wants to appoint former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss and Tottenham Hotspur target, Nuno Espirito Santo, at Crystal Palace.

The Portuguese manager caught everyone by surprise when he parted ways with Wolves earlier this month. And since then, he has been a hot property in the managerial market.

Palace already have a few options lined up in Barnsley’s Valerian Ismael and Swansea City’s Steve Cooper. However, it is understandable that Santo will be preferred due to his experience and CV. (h/t The Sun)

He is one man who has been constantly linked with the Spurs’ managerial hot-seat. The Lilywhites are in search of a new boss ever since Jose Mourinho was sacked before the Carabao Cup final in April.

Where to, Santo?

Ryan Mason took over as the interim manager but it is evident he is a temporary solution. Amid this, a host of names, including Santo have been linked.

Palace reportedly prefer a quick response from Santo because of other Premier League club’s interest in him and they have the financial resources to see this deal through. There is no compensation fee to pay to Santo, after all.

Spurs are not in the UCL next season but still finished 7th in the league and will be playing in the UEFA Europa Conference League. It is evident we are better placed than Palace but it remains to be seen what decision Santo takes.

The club is in dire need of an experienced manager who knows his way around the top divisions. And Daniel Levy would know this is one of the biggest decision he has ever had to take at the club.

Santo would also be reunited with right-back Matt Doherty at Spurs, a player he sold to the London-based club last summer.
