Norwich director warns Tottenham target Emiliano Buendia will cost at least £30m

Speaking to BBC, Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has warned Tottenham and other clubs linked with top star Emiliano Buendia, stating that he will cost at least £30m this summer.

Norwich City are back in the Premier League after a stunning 2020/21 campaign that saw them win the EFL Championship. The Canaries, however, are staring at the prospect of some of their star players being picked up by the bigger clubs.

One such star is Emiliano Buendia. The Argentine winger enjoyed a brilliant season that saw him finish with a tally of 15 goals and 17 assists from 39 league outings. This has seen the 24-year-old get linked with a host of clubs in the Premier League, including Tottenham Hotspur and our rivals Arsenal as well as Aston Villa. (h/t Sky Sports)

And Webber has now warned that any club wanting to sign Buendia, or any other players from Norwich such as Max Aarons – another transfer target for Tottenham and Todd Cantwell, will have to shell out a minimum of £30m.

If we do sell one, it’s going to be a club record deal. It’s probably going to start with a number three in front of it and that will give us great opportunities to maybe make the whole better as well. We’re really relaxed on that front.”

With Gareth Bale’s loan deal over, a move for someone like Buendia would make a lot of sense for Tottenham. The 24-year-old is coming on the back of a fine season with Norwich and had excelled during their last Premier League campaign in 2019/20.

He would definitely add a bigger creative presence as well as a goal-threat than someone like Steven Bergwijn or even Lucas Moura for that matter. Whether Tottenham do make a move for the Argentine remains to be seen.
