Gareth Bale addresses Tottenham future amid talks of potential retirement
Speaking in a press conference (h/t Football.london), former Tottenham star Gareth Bale has responded to speculations surrounding his future amid talks of retirement.
Gareth Bale became the mega-star that he is today at Tottenham before leaving for Real Madrid in 2013. Having spent seven years in Spain where he won every trophy that is there to be won at the club level, the Welshman returned to Spurs last summer on a season-long loan deal.
And even though it started on a difficult note, Bale was able to turn it around towards the backend of the season, helping Spurs finish seventh in the league and secure European football. The 31-year-old ended the season with 16 goals in all competitions.
With the season now over, Bale’s future is in a bit of a limbo considering that he is persona non-grata at Real Madrid while he has been linked with a return to Tottenham as well. In addition, there have been recent talks about him retiring from the sport altogether as well. During the interview, the Welshman addressed all those rumours. (h/t Football.london)
“Obviously there’s been a lot of things written about whether I’m doing this and doing that. For me, the main thing is I don’t want to say anything that’s going to cause more chaos or more drama or cause a distraction. I just want to focus on the Euros. When the Euros finishes for us then I will sit down and decide what I want to do.”
“Yeah, well. It’s one of those. As I said, I’ll sit down after the Euros and decide what I want to do. I want to give everything into this Euros and put in everything I can like we do in every single game. If I say something then it’s just going to cause even more chaos so there’s no point.”

Bale coming back to Tottenham for another spell would be a good move, given how he ended the last season. If he is able maintain a similar level of performances throughout the season, the Welshman can be a huge asset for the club.
We will have to wait till the Euros are out of the way to learn what the winger has planned.
