Mauricio Pochettino tells PSG he wants out amid Tottenham return rumours

According to Paris-based publication Liberation (h/t Mirror), Mauricio Pochettino has told PSG that he wants to leave the club amid rumours of a return to Tottenham Hotspur.

Pochettino took over the reins at PSG only in January earlier this year, close to fifteen months after he had been sacked by Tottenham. In his short time with the Parisian giants, the 49-year-old has already won two trophies in the form of the French Cup and the French Super Cup. However, PSG did get beaten by LOSC Lille in the Ligue 1 title race.

Despite that, PSG are said to be happy with the Argentine manager and have even triggered a one-year contract extension on his current deal. But, it seems like the feeling is not reciprocated by Pochettino, who is not settled at Parc des Princes and has now informed the club that he wants to quit this summer. (h/t Mirror)

This will come as music to the ears of Tottenham management, who are keen on rehiring Pochettino as manager. The Lilywhites let go of the 49-year-old following a disappointing start to the 2019/20 campaign, replacing him with Jose Mourinho.

Things, however, did not work out with the Portuguese, who was sacked in April earlier this year. Even though there have been talks of Tottenham wanting Antonio Conte, Pochettino remains high on Daniel Levy’s wishlist. The Argentine, too, would be open to a return to the club, provided Harry Kane stays put. (h/t Mirror)
