Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti open to selling Tottenham-linked Gareth Bale
According to Marca (h/t Express), newly-appointed Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is open to the prospect of selling Gareth Bale, who has been linked with a return to Tottenham.
Ancelotti became the manager of Real Madrid for the second time in his career, replacing Zinedine Zidane who quit after the 2020/21 campaign. The Italian has worked previously with Bale, and the pair tasted a lot of success in his first spell as manager.
So, naturally following his re-appointment, Ancelotti was quizzed over the prospect of Bale, who was exiled by Zidane, making his way back into the Real Madrid side. The former Chelsea boss responded positively, hinting that the Welshman will be given a chance next term.
“He is coming back, I know him very well, he will be motivated to play better and have a great season, no doubt.”
However, the aforementioned report contradicts those claims, stating that Real Madrid will actively look to offload the 31-year-old.
This will come as good news for Tottenham, who have been linked with yet another reunion with Bale. Having lost the Welshman to Real Madrid in 2013, Spurs welcomed him back to the club last summer, on a season-long loan deal. Although, it wasn’t a roaring success, the 31-year-old managed to score 16 goals over the course of the campaign.

Talks of another return, on loan or even permanently, have been doing the rounds for some time now, even though his wages would be a major stumbling block. Real Madrid’s stance on his future, despite Ancelotti’s return, does, however, offer Spurs some hope of completing a deal for Bale, should they decide to pursue one.
