Tottenham confident of Son Heung-min signing a new contract, claims Fabrizio Romano
According to reliable journalist and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur are confident about the prospects of a new contract for star man Son Heung-min as negotiations still continue.
Son has been with Tottenham since 2015, having signed from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen. The 28-year-old has grown into one of our best players, along with Harry Kane, and is one of the top attackers in the Premier League.
Son is currently contracted with Tottenham till the summer of 2023. However, talks over a new deal for the South Korean international have been doing the rounds for months now, following an increasingly impressive 2020/21 season on a personal level for the forward.
Indeed, the 28-year-old plundered 22 goals and set up 17 more in 51 matches across all competitions, despite going through a bit of a lean patch in the latter stages.
However, talks had reportedly been put on hold by the club due to the pandemic and the financial uncertainty that came along with it. Romano, though, has now provided an update on the said negotiations, which will come as a great bit of news for the Tottenham supporters.
As per the Italian journalist, Tottenham are in talks with Sonny’s representatives over a new deal. The club are confident that the 28-year-old will put pen to paper on a new deal as soon as the situation surrounding the new manager at the club is resolved.
Tottenham are still in talks with Heung-min Son agents to reach an agreement on contract extension. Spurs board ‘confident’ to complete the agreement soon, once the new manager situation will be clarified. ⚪️🇰🇷 #THFC #Spurs
