Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur could be the next destination for Romelu Lukaku, according to former PL player
Speaking on ESPN FC’s online channel (h/t The Express) earlier this week, Shaka Hislop stated that Antonio Conte, who is linked with Tottenham Hotspur, would see Romelu Lukaku follow him wherever he goes.
Lukaku played in the Premier League for Manchester United before his move to Serie A in 2019. The Belgian striker was purchased by Antonio Conte at the Serie A club.
The bullish No.9 has impressed during his Serie A spell. He was a major part of the Inter Milan team that managed to dethrone Juventus and win the Scudetto. He scored 30 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
But Conte has now resigned from Inter. And according to the former West Ham United goalkeeper, Lukaku would follow the manager who wanted to sign him at Chelsea in 2017, wherever he goes next.
Lukaku to replace Kane?
“I will say that Romelu Lukaku will go wherever Antonio Conte goes… ultimately Lukaku will want to go back with Antonio Conte where Conte got so much out of him and Lukaku has been totally transformed as a player, both on the field, how he’s received, and how the press and the media speaks about him.”
Conte is, of course, reportedly close to becoming the next manager of Tottenham Hotspur. The club sacked Jose Mourinho back in April and have had Ryan Mason as their interim manager.
The report also goes on to mention that Harry Kane’s future is uncertain at the club. If the star striker does leave The Lilywhites, there is no doubt that a replacement would be needed.
And Lukaku could be one striker to fill his boots. The Belgian international has tons of Premier League experience with United, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, and Everton.
