Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris addresses Mourinho reunion rumours
Speaking to French outlet Nice-Matin (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has responded to speculations linking him with a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at AS Roma.
Lloris has been with Tottenham for nine years now, having signed from Olympique Lyon in the summer of 2012. The 34-year-old has been one of Spurs’ best players during the period, becoming the club captain and an iconic figure among the fans.
However, at 34, he is entering the final phase of his career and has shown signs of age catching up to him. In addition to that, Lloris’ contract with Tottenham runs out in a year, which has also led to a lot of speculations surrounding his future.
Indeed, not so long ago, the France captain was touted for a reunion with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG, while a former club of his, OGC Nice, had also been linked.
The latest in the line of interested parties seem to be AS Roma. With ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho taking over the reins at the Serie A outfit, the Giallorossi are said to plotting a raid on Tottenham for the signing of Lloris.
The 34-year-old was quizzed about such a possibility in the upcoming transfer window. But he did not give anything away in his response, insisting that he will address those matters once the upcoming UEFA Euro 2020 was out of the way. (h/t football.london)
“I will answer these questions once the European Championships are over.”

Lloris may have shown signs of slowing down on occasions in the recent past. But his leadership and presence on and off the field make him an integral part of this Tottenham team.
Having him as part of the setup will be crucial for any new manager that will be coming in to replace Mourinho at the club.
