Revealed: Tottenham players’ thoughts on Antonio Conte after deal falls apart
According to The Athletic (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur players had concerns over the management style of Antonio Conte after it emerged that the club was in advanced talks to appoint him.
With Tottenham being without a manager for more than a month, things looked like they were about to reach a head as reports claimed that the club was set to name Conte as the next head coach.
The 51-year-old had just led Inter Milan to their first Serie A title in a decade before walking out due to a disagreement over the future plans. One of the most successful modern managers, Conte has tasted success everywhere he has gone. So, there was some sense of optimism when news of his potential appointment broke.
However, it was not all positivity though, as it has now been claimed that the Tottenham stars weren’t entirely convinced of Conte’s managerial style.
There were concerns aired due to his “extreme and demanding methods” while some had apprehensions over the fact that the Italian does not give youth players from the academy a lot of chances. (h/t Express)
As it turned out though, Tottenham players had nothing to worry about as the club decided against appointing Conte as the next manager. Indeed, Daniel Levy & co. walked away from the deal due to some of the former Chelsea boss’ demands.

While a move for Conte may have fallen through, it is high time that Tottenham named a new manager. It has been over a month since Jose Mourinho was sacked. At a time when clubs are already signing new players, it does not reflect well on Spurs that the club is yet to narrow down on a managerial target.
