Joachim Andersen has done very well for Fulham

Joachim Andersen likely to sign for Tottenham or Arsenal this summer

According to The Athletic, Olympique Lyon defender Joachim Andersen is likely to end up in London this summer with Tottenham Hotspur, or Arsenal tipped to be his next destination.

Andersen signed for Lyon in the summer of 2019 from Serie A side Sampdoria. After a slow debut season, the Danish defender moved to Fulham last summer on a year-long loan deal. During his time at Craven Cottage, the 25-year-old thrived, impressing with his defensive nous and leadership.

Indeed, with regular captain Tom Cairney struggling with injury problems, manager Scott Parker handed the armband to Andersen for the majority of the season. And even though Fulham ended up getting relegated, the Danish international made enough of an impression to attract the interest of Tottenham Hotspur.

Apart from Tottenham, it seems like bitter rivals Arsenal, too, are keen on the 25-year-old’s services, as are Manchester United, ahead of the summer transfer window. And The Athletic is now claiming that there is a strong possibility that Andersen ends up at one of the two clubs before the next season.

The report states that Olympique Lyon are happy to listen to offers for Andersen after they missed out on Champions League football for next season. It is claimed that a bid of around €23m could be enough to secure the transfer of the five-time capped Denmark international.

Andersen, given his age and the way he performed in the Premier League last term, has the potential to be a good addition at Tottenham. Spurs need a long-term replacement for Toby Alderweireld, who is well into his thirties, and the Dane can be that man. Whether the club actually acts on the interest remains to be seen.
