Tottenham in advanced negotiations to sign Marcus Thuram
According to French publication RMC Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks to secure the signing of French forward Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Thuram came through the youth ranks at FC Sochaux and had a stint with Guingamp before signing for Gladbach in the summer of 2019. Since joining the Bundesliga outfit, the 23-year-old has grown into a key player for the Foals, bagging 25 goals and 21 assists in 79 games so far.
Thuram enjoyed a solid 2020/21 campaign during which he produced a return of 11 goals and 12 assists from 40 matches in all competitions. A versatile player, the forward can play anywhere across the frontline and even broke into the France national team towards the end of the last year owing to his impressive form.
Son of French legend Lilian Thuram, the 23-year-old has now emerged as a priority transfer target for Tottenham, as per the report. It is no secret that Spurs will be needing attacking reinforcements in the summer given as Carlos Vinicius’ loan deal came to an end.
Throw in the uncertain future surrounding star striker Harry Kane, who could very well leave after the Euro 2020, the signing of a new forward is very much warranted.
Thuram, to that end, can be a fine addition, given the flexibility he can offer in the final third with his versatile nature. In addition, at 23, the Frenchman is bound to get better with age and experience.

Tottenham are now reported to be in advanced negotiations to sign up Thuram. It does come as a bit of a surprise considering that the club is yet to name a manager. However, if there is any truth to these reports, the French international could very well end up becoming a Spurs’ player come next season.
