Portsmouth backed to sign Tottenham starlet Harvey White on loan
Speaking to The Transfer Tavern (h/t The News), former Portsmouth midfielder David Norris has backed the club to sign Tottenham youngster Harvey White on loan for 2021/22.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy, White has risen through the ranks and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects at the club. The 19-year-old made his first-team debut in November last year in a UEFA Europa League clash and featured once more in a FA Cup game in January before heading out on loan to Portsmouth.
During his time with Pompey, the midfielder made 22 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up one more. However, only six of those 22 appearances were from the start, with just one coming under new manager Danny Cowley, who replaced Kenny Jackett in mid-March.
Nevertheless, it seems like White has managed to make an impression on Norris, who is of the belief that Portsmouth should bring back the 19-year-old to Fratton Park next season.
“If they could get him that would be a good signing. The couple of people I spoke to said he looks hungry and wants to improve. And that is right up the Cowleys’ street, so I think that would be a very good signing, especially based on what he’s done so far.”
Cowley himself has admitted that he had spoken with former Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason to check whether the possibility of a loan deal exists.

With Oliver Skipp returning from a triumphant spell with Norwich City, White is unlikely to get much playing time with the first-team next term. Another loan deal, to that end, would work out well for the youngster as well as Tottenham.
