Tottenham youngster Shilow Tracey completes joins Cambridge United
As confirmed by the club’s official website, Cambridge United have completed the signing of Tottenham Hotspur winger Shilow Tracey on a permanent transfer.
Having started out at Ebbsfleet United, Tracey made the move to the Tottenham youth setup in January 2016, linking up with our U-18 setup. He was pushed up to the U-23 side in the summer of the same year, for whom he made 70 appearances, scoring and assisting eight goals apiece.
Tracey spent the second half of the last season at Macclesfield Town and featured seven times in all competitions, finding the back of the net on one occasion. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Last summer saw Tracey sign for Shrewsbury Town on loan where the winger made quite a decent impression. In 12 appearances for the Shrews, the 23-year-old found the back of the net on four occasions. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Having returned to Tottenham in January, he left for Cambridge United on yet another loan deal. The 23-year-old was a regular for the U’s as he made 17 appearances, scoring and assisting one goal apiece.
And with his contract with Tottenham expiring later this month, the EFL League Two have decided to snap him up on a free transfer, signing him on a two-year deal. Upon completing the switch, Tracey said:
“After speaking to the Manager about re-signing, I didn’t really think twice about it. I feel like everything just fits in well with me at the Club – the players, the staff and the way we play. I can’t wait to get started now.”

With Tracey now 23 and still not having made a first-team appearance for Tottenham, it was always a given that he would not be handed a new deal. And, the young winger has now decided to sign for Cambridge United, having been given a regular run in the side last term. We wish the youngster all the best for the next chapter in his career.
