Tottenham in advanced talks with Gennaro Gattuso claims Fabrizio Romano
According to the ever-reliable and reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are in advanced talks with Gennaro Gattuso over a two-year contract to become the next manager of the club.
Tottenham looked set to appoint former AS Roma manager Paulo Fonseca as the next manager after having agreed a contract with him. However, the deal broke down on Thursday, with Gattuso immediately emerging as the favourite to become the next Spurs boss. (h/t The Athletic)
Gattuso, who started his management career with AC Milan, also had a fairly decent time with Napoli with whom he won the Coppa Italia during the 2019/20 season. However, he was let go of by the Partenopei at the end of the 2020/21 campaign after they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Following his sacking, Gattuso had agreed to become the next manager of Fiorentina. However, just 23 days after the announcement, the former AC Milan midfielder walked away from the post, and is now said to be headed to Tottenham Hotspur instead. (h/t The Athletic)
Now, Romano has claimed that Spurs are indeed in advanced talks with former World Cup winner to become the next manager, with talks being spearheaded by super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the Italian manager. Romano further adds that a potential two-year contract is being discussed between the two parties.

This certainly has to be one of the most bizarre manager hunts in Premier League history. It has been two months since Jose Mourinho was sacked. Ever since, Tottenham just seem to be hopping from one candidate to another. When it seemed like Antonio Conte was going to be appointed, the deal was off. Now talks have broken down with Fonseca as well all of a sudden. (h/t Evening Standard)
Hopefully all this mess is sorted out at the earliest, with the transfer window open and teams already bringing in players.
