Gareth Southgate confirms Tottenham star Harry Kane will start against Czech Republic
According to the Irish Independent, England boss Gareth Southgate has confirmed that Tottenham star Harry Kane will start against the Czech Republic. England will be hoping to add a win and finish as group winners.
As England laboured to a draw against Scotland in the Euros, one player cut a very frustrating figure for 74 minutes. Harry Kane has struggled a lot over the last two games in an England shirt with the striker yet to hit the back of the net.
The England captain received some boos after his anonymous display in a game where a win would have pushed them through to the next round. Instead, they left Croatia and Scotland with a chance to overtake them if they cannot win against the Czech.
With so much scrutiny on Kane at the moment, his manager has come to his defence. He even hinted that the Spurs striker will likely start again in the last group game.
“I know there will be a lot of questions being asked about him at the moment but he has been through that 100 times before. I have answered that in this role several times in the past and he has come up with the goals that have won us the next games and I expect that to be the same moving forward.”

It’s understandable that Kane is not performing at his best level. However, the whole side is struggling and it would be wrong to point the finger at a player who has done so much for club and country. It is definitely encouraging that Southgate trusts Kane to come good and prove his critics wrong.
