Transfer News: Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur on the same page after reported bid for Harry Kane

According to the Mirror, reports emerged on Monday that Manchester City have submitted a £100million bid for the transfer of Tottenham star Harry Kane.

The Englishman has been linked with the Cityzens as they look to replace Sergio Aguero. However, a report by Football.london (h/t Mirror) claims that sources at both City and Spurs claim that no such bid is on the table.

It is claimed that Spurs want to keep Kane, and City are looking for the Euros to conclude before making any transfers. Spurs are even telling managerial candidates that the 27-year-old will don the Tottenham jersey next season.

This would come as welcome news for Spurs fans. Kane hasn’t really shown his best at the Euros but there is no doubt about his goal-scoring pedigree.

Kane saga continues

Kane could be the difference between Tottenham finally winning their first major trophy since 2008 or going another year without any silverware.

But Kane, speaking after winning the London Footballer of the Year Award back in May 2021, already revealed his intention of wanting to win silverware.

“As much as this is great, I want to be winning the biggest prizes that there is to offer as a team, and we are not quite doing that. It is one of those [situations], it is bittersweet. I would rather be winning team trophies than this award. It is what it is.”

Kane moving to City would strengthen a direct rival. The Lilywhites should be looking to narrow the gap between them and the first place, and not widen it.
