Celtic enter race for Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers
According to US journalist Larry Henry Jr. (h/t Glasgow Times), Scottish giants Celtic have entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers this summer.
Carter-Vickers is a product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy. The centre-back made his senior debut for the club way back in 2016 but has featured just four times for so far. Instead, the 23-year-old has had loan spells away at Swansea City, Ipswich Town, Sheffield United, Stoke City and Luton Town in the past.
Carter-Vickers signed for Bournemouth on a season-long loan deal in the summer last year. And he enjoyed a decent campaign as the Cherries finished in the playoff places but couldn’t make it to the playoff finals. The centre-back featured in 26 games across all competitions, scoring one goal and setting up another. (h/t Transfermarkt)
With Carter-Vickers’ loan spell now over, he is back at Tottenham. While his contract with Tottenham was supposed to expire at the end of the 2020/21 season, the club are reported to have triggered a one-year extension option in order to protect his transfer value. (h/t Football.london)
And, having been courted by the likes of Newcastle United, Cardiff City and Fulham, Carter-Vickers has found new suitors in the form of Celtic, claims the aforementioned report. It is further added that any deal is likely to be a permanent transfer, with Tottenham not interested in loaning out the USMNT international for yet another year.

It is clear that Carter-Vickers is not part of the plans at Tottenham. The mounting interest in him, however, is certainly good news as the club could get a good sum from his sale this summer. It remains to be seen where the 23-year-old ends up this summer.
