Ryan Mason not asked to work with Tottenham Hotspur first-team next season
According to Alasdair Gold of football.london, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to ask Ryan Mason to work with the first team next season, and his role in youth development would include working with the Academy teams at Hotspur Way.
Jose Mourinho was sacked by the club back in April, just a few days before the Carabao Cup final. Taking over as interim manager was the then 29-year-old Ryan Mason – an ex-Spurs midfielder.
Mason entered management at the club after a serious head injury cut his playing career short. He had a roller-coaster ride as Spurs manager as the club picked up a few wins but lost the League Cup final.
The former Hull City midfielder never looked like he would be offered the job as a permanent coach, considering his lack of experience as well as the magnitude of the task at hand.
Ryan Mason back to coaching the youth team
Replacing a serial winner like Jose Mourinho is no easy task, and that is probably the reason why Spurs’ search for a permanent manager is into its third month.
The report states that Mason would most likely be working with the youth teams and is yet to be asked to play any role with the first team.
“At this point – Mason has not been asked to work with the first team and his role in youth development includes him working with the academy age groups on the club’s Hotspur Way pitches.”
In the past few months, Spurs have had a number of candidates that have either rejected them or have been rejected by the club for the managerial hot seat at N17.

It remains to be seen when the new boss takes over the helm but the club should ensure that they don’t make a hurried decision. If we have waited this long for a new manager, a little bit longer wouldn’t hurt.
