Harry Kane makes promise to England fan who passed away during win over Germany
According to Metro, Harry Kane made a promise to the England fan who passed away in the aftermath of the Germany win. The Tottenham and England captain vowed to give it his all through the rest of the tournament for Charlie Naughton.
When Harry Kane headed in England’s second goal from a Jack Grealish cross, you could be forgiven in the manner England fans celebrated. After all, this was one of their most significant wins in the Euros this year after lugging through the group stages. Add to that, it was Kane’s first goal in the European Championship.
However, it was a tragedy for England fan Charlie Naughton as the 29-year-old collapsed during the win at a local pub. Paramedics were called in and they tried their best for a better part of three hours to revive the ardent England and Chelsea fan. However, it was to no avail as Charlie sadly passed away.
Solidarity has poured in from all corners and Kane made a vow to Naughton that England would give it their all in their next few games.
‘I’m so sorry to hear about Charlie passing away – my thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends. We will give it everything tomorrow and for the rest of the tournament for fans like Charlie. RIP Charlie Naughton.’
Rest in peace Charlie 💙🕊 KTBFFH pic.twitter.com/w369wAbeLo
