Transfer News: Tottenham keep an eye on Nikola Milenkovic

According to transfer news from Football.london, Tottenham hold some interest in signing Nikola Milenkovic. The Fiorentina defender is among the names Fabio Paratici is considering as he looks to overhaul the defence.

It might have taken a while but Paratici was finally able to get Nuno Espirito Santo. During that time, he could not plan for any incoming transfer deals as they would have to fit the new manager’s style of play and tactics.

Spurs’ defenders struggled last season.

One issue that Spurs encountered last season was in defence. Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez had underwhelming seasons. Toby Alderweireld had a decent year while Joe Rodon showed that he can be one for the future. That has led to Paratici looking at defensive reinforcements and one of them is 23-year-old Nikola Milenkovic.

Milenkovic has grown into one of the most reliable defenders in Serie A since making the switch to Fiorentina from Partizan Belgrade back in 2017. However, the Serbian international sees his contract expire with the Viola at the end of the 2021/22 campaign. That means he is likely to be one of the more cost-effective options for the club to pursue.

With the new season set to start in about a month, Spurs will need to make up for lost time in the transfer market. A new defender is on the agenda for Paratici and Milenkovic can be a good name to start with. At just 23, he could represent a significant coup for the long term.
