Transfer News: Tottenham keep tabs on Jannik Vestergaard
According to transfer news from Express, Tottenham have kept their eye on Jannik Vestergaard. Spurs are believed to be looking at possible replacements for Toby Alderweireld, who has asked to leave the club. Vestergaard is believed to be among some of the names being looked at by the club.
The 28-year-old Vestergaard has been with Southampton since the summer of 2018, having arrived from German club Borussia Monchengladbach. During his three years at the club, the towering Dane has gradually grown into an integral member of the Saints side.
A towering presence, Vestergaard had been quite impressive over the last season as well, playing a key role in Southampton’s brilliant start to the season. And his performances, despite the Saints’ mid-season collapse, have attracted the attention of clubs like Tottenham Hotspur.
Toby Alderweireld somewhat dropped a shell on Spurs after claiming that he would like to leave the club over the summer. Now, transfer chief Fabio Paratici is looking at potential options to replace him. Vestergaard is one name that Spurs have kept on their shortlist and rightly so. An experienced Premier League defender, he can prove to be a decent addition to the side.
