Transfer News: Newcastle considering a move for Cameron Carter-Vickers
According to transfer news from The Athletic (subscription required), Cameron Carter-Vickers is the subject of interest from Newcastle. The Magpies are facing the prospect of losing Fabian Schar this season and have lined up the Tottenham defender as a possible replacement.
Newcastle are looking for defensive recruits. It is believed that one of their star defenders, Fabian Schar has been linked with a move back to Germany. While there has been no strong intention from the Swiss defender to leave, Steve Bruce remains keen on adding a new name to the backline.
One of the names he is considering is that of Tottenham man Cameron Carter-Vickers. The 23-year-old United States international has spent time on loan at six different clubs – Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Swansea City, Stoke City, Luton Town and Bournemouth over the past four seasons.
It is clear that the American has no future at the club and he is just biding his time away on loan spells. Carter-Vickers is said to be of particular interest because of Graeme Jones. The Newcastle assistant coach had worked with the player on two of his loan spells and holds the 23-year-old in high regard.

Clearly, Spurs are going on about their business without the defender at the club. Hence, it would be a rather smart decision to cash in on the player in case Newcastle act on their interest in the American defender. We could end up with some cash in hand and he will be off the books.
