Transfer News: Latest Tottenham Hotspur stance on Harry Winks amid Aston Villa links
According to football.london, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and Aston Villa transfer target, Harry Winks, could leave the club if there is a viable offer made for him.
The 25-year-old English midfielder is the subject of interest from the Villans. While he would be open to staying at the club next season and fight for a place in midfield, the club can sell him to generate cash if the transfer fee is right. (h/t football.london)
Winks has spent his entire career at Spurs since the age of 6. His high point would surely be his start against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final two years back.
But things have looked bleak recently, with him struggling for starts under Jose Mourinho last season. There is no saying what the future holds for him in Nuno Espirito Santo’s line-up.
Winks to Villa?
However, Winks staying at N17 offers the club a great amount of depth and quality. The club already have the dependable Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with Tanguy Ndombele and Moussa Sissoko to partner him.
And Winks can offer quality backup to the trio in league as well as cup games. Not to forget, Spurs are also in the newly-found UEFA Europa Conference League.
That venture will only add to the already strenuous fixture list that the top teams have in the English first division. If a big offer comes, of course, the club should consider selling him, but only if they have a backup plan in mind.
