Transfer News: Tottenham receive boost in chase for Wout Weghorst
According to transfer news from Football.london, Tottenham have received a boost in their pursuit of Wout Weghorst. The £27m-rated Dutch striker could be allowed to leave Wolfsburg if an appropriate offer is made. Chelsea are also said to be after him.
Tottenham are still in limbo over Harry Kane’s future. The Spurs captain is yet to pledge his future to the side and a move still remains a possibility. While the club have reiterated their stance that they want to keep him, it is still anybody’s guess if he moves or stays. (h/t Football.london)
Due to that, Spurs are in need of a new striker and see Wout Weghorst as someone they can revisit their interest in. The well-built Dutch striker was linked with a move to Spurs last season but nothing happened. Nonetheless, he has been a regular scoring presence in the Bundesliga over the last three years with 63 goals in 120 appearances.
Now, Weghorst could finally get his moe away from the club. Wolfsburg managing director Jorg Schmadtke pretty much kept the door open for a transfer if any club came in with the right offer.
“When an offer comes that satisfies all parties, things change.”

Weghorst is a different striker from Harry Kane but can also offer something different to what Spurs already have. He is one of those old-school centre-forwards who can challenge a defender with ease. While Kane has still not left, it might just be good to keep an alternative such as Weghorst in the plans.
