Tottenham ready to offer £50m for Jules Kounde; Milan Skriniar lined up as Plan B
According to La Colina de Nervion (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur are ready to make a bid of £50m to try and secure the signing of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in the summer.
Kounde came through the ranks at French club Bordeaux but it was only after he made the switch to Sevilla in 2019 that he exploded into a rising superstar of the game. The 22-year-old was one of the Spanish outfit’s best players as they went on to win the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League.
Kounde followed it up with yet another solid season in 2020/21, establishing himself as one of the best central defenders on display in La Liga. Fabrizio Romano had recently claimed that Tottenham admire the 22-year-old France international, as the club eyes defensive reinforcements this summer.
Now, it is being said by the aforementioned report that the club is already working on a £50m proposal to try and entice Kounde from Sevilla this summer. And, in case a move for the Frenchman fails to materialise, the Lilywhites are said to have identified Inter Milan centre-half Milan Skriniar as the alternative option. (h/t Express)
Skriniar is a player that Tottenham are well aware of, having tracked him for the good part of the last summer transfer window. Having enjoyed a brilliant 2020/21 season with Inter Milan, whom he helped win the Serie A title, the Slovakian seems to be back on the radars of the North London club. (h/t Express)

So, it seems like Spurs are keeping their options open this summer instead of putting all the eggs in a single basket. It now remains to be seen who the club ends up signing.
