Transfer News: Tottenham have made an enquiry for Patrik Schick
According to transfer news from Italian journalist Rudy Galetti on Twitter, Tottenham Hotspur have asked for information about Bayer Leverkusen’s Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick.
The 25-year-old Czech Republic forward came through the youth ranks at Sparta Prague, before joining Italian club Sampdoria in 2016. Schick joined Roma on loan in the summer of 2017, before making the transfer permanent a year later. He made 58 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals, before being loaned out to RB Leipzig in 2019.
Schick has had a solid season in Germany, producing a return of 10 goals and 2 assists in 20 Bundesliga matches. RB Leipzig had the chance to sign the forward on a permanent deal but passed up the opportunity. Following that, the forward signed for Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent basis in the summer last year.
Schick enjoyed an impressive debut season with Die Werkself as well, bagging 13 goals and 2 assists in 2020/21. This was followed by some stunning displays at the UEFA Euro 2020 where he helped the Czech Republic reach as far as the quarter-finals. With five goals in the tournament, the 25-year-old is the current joint top-scorer along with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Schick’s exploits have seemingly landed him on the radars of Tottenham, as per Galetti, who claims that the club has already made some enquiries for the forward. However, Leverkusen value their star forward at €40m – a fee that has been deemed too high by the Lilywhites, claims the journalist.
🚨📞 In recent days, #Tottenham has asked for information on Patrik #Schick. #Paratici appreciates the #BayerLeverkusen forward, but the 🇩🇪 club requests (around €40M) are currently deemed too high. Stand-by situation. 🐓⚽️ #Transfers #Calciomercato #EPL

Tottenham are in the market for a new forward, having seen Carlos Vinicius’ loan deal run out. In addition to that, the future of superstar Harry Kane itself remains uncertain. Someone like Schick, to that end, can be a fine addition to the ranks, irrespective of whether Kane stays or leaves.
The 25-year-old has his best years in front of him and is enjoying a good run of form, while he can also play in multiple positions in the final third. Whether Tottenham act on their interest in the Czech Republic international remains to be seen.
