Tottenham transfer target Jannik Vestergaard valued at €20m by Southampton
The 28-year-old Vestergaard has been with Tottenham since the summer of 2018, having arrived from German club Borussia Monchengladbach. During his three years at the club, the towering Dane has gradually grown into an integral member of the team. However, the 28-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with the club, casting doubts over his future at St. Mary’s.
The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Tottenham had opened talks to try and secure the signing of the Danish international, who has impressed at the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020, this summer.
After the past campaign, it goes without saying that Tottenham need to bring in defensive reinforcements. More so, considering that Toby Alderweireld has asked the club to leave this summer. (h/t The Athletic)
To that end, a move for someone like Vestergaard, who has proven himself in the Premier League and is in his peak years could work out well for the Lilywhites. And, the €20m valuation does not seem to steep either, although negotiations may eventually lead to an even lesser price like the bargain deal that happened with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last summer.
