Tottenham fans react as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is named in the UEFA Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament
With the Euro 2020 out of the way, UEFA released the official Team of the Tournament and Tottenham Hotspur and Denmark midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg made the cut.
The 25-year-old, who joined Tottenham only last year and was one of the Lilywhites’ better performers during the 2020/21 campaign, carried on in the same vein of form at the Euros.
An ever-present in the middle of the park for Denmark, Hojbjerg was crucial to their surprise semi-final run, which came to a halt at the hands of England at Wembley. Given more licence to push forward than he does at Tottenham, the 25-year-old ended up contributing three assists during the tournament as well.
Congratulations @hojbjerg23, fully deserved 👏 https://t.co/ZOJmFPiQKV

A strong showing has now been rewarded with a place in the UEFA Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament. Hojbjerg joins Gianluigi Donnarumma, Kyle Walker, Leonardo Bonucci, Harry Maguire, Leonardo Spinazzola, Jorginho, Pedri, Federico Chiesa, Romelu Lukaku and Raheem Sterling in the team.
There is no place for Hojbjerg’s Tottenham teammate and England captain Harry Kane in the side even though he scored four goals. Fans, though, were pleased to see the Dane get the nod and took to social media to praise the achievement.
