Tottenham transfer target Joaquin Correa set to cost up to £42m
According to transfer news from TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Football.london), Serie A side Lazio are likely to demand a transfer fee in the range of €40-€50m (£34-£42m) for Tottenham Hotspur target Joaquin Correa.
Having started out at Argentine outfit Estudiantes, Correa made his way to Europe in 2015, signing for Sampdoria. The forward, who can play in multiple positions in the final third, then signed for La Liga outfit Sevilla in the summer of 2016, before returning to Italy with Lazio two years later.
Since signing for the Biancocelesti, the 26-year-old has made 117 appearances, in which he has managed a return of 30 goals and 18 assists. New manager Maurizio Sarri, though, has hinted that the Argentine could be allowed to leave this summer. (h/t Football.london)
“For me, he can be the forward to leave, if he has the desire and incentives to do it. For some time he had expressed the desire to change the air, but if he has changed his mind I am the most happy of all. I have asked him to be willing to play the attacker starting from the left.”
Tottenham are one among the clubs that have a strong interest in Correa. The 26-year-old is said to be a target for newly-appointed sporting director Fabio Paratici, while the likes of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also interest. And, while Lazio are open to sanctioning a sale, they are set to demand a hefty fees in the range of £34-£42m for the Argentine international.

Correa has been a reliable performer for Lazio and is entering his peak years. His versatility is an added bonus. However, his numbers aren’t that great and given the fee that the Serie A club are demanding for him, Tottenham would be better off looking at other options.
