Transfer News: Tottenham offered a chance to sign Vitinha by Jorge Mendes
According to transfer news from Mercado Azul (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the services of Portuguese midfielder Vitinha by super-agent Jorge Mendes this summer.
A product of the FC Porto youth academy, Vitinha rose through the ranks at the Portuguese outfit, making his first-team debut in January last year. He went on to feature 12 times before the end of the 2019/20 season, before signing for Wolves on loan in the summer last year.
While he found himself behind the likes of Ruben Neves, Leander Dendoncker and Joao Moutinho, he did make a decent impression when given a chance, as he featured 22 times in all competitions, scoring and assisting one goal. A versatile player, the 21-year-old Vitinha can play in multiple positions in midfield and is someone that new Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo admires.
The Portuguese tactician is said to be keen on signing the midfielder, even as Wolves consider signing him permanently. The Midlands club have the option of making his transfer permanent for £20m this summer but his agent, Jorge Mendes, has now offered the young midfielder to Tottenham Hotspur.
Nuno is said to be keen on strengthening his midfield options this summer, with Tottenham having been linked with Real Madrid’s Isco as well. A move for Vitinha could, thus, be on the cards considering the manager already knows him, while the pair sharing an agent also makes things easier. (h/t Express)
