Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur offer cash and Davinson Sanchez for Sevilla star Jules Kounde
According to reliable transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have ‘reached an agreement’ with Sevilla for defender Jules Kounde.
The French youngster is highly rated in Europe and Spurs have apparently had an offer accepted. The report mentions that Spurs have offered £25.5million in cash plus their Colombian defender, Davinson Sanchez.
The 22-year-old, however, is still mulling over a deal. Spurs have Milan Skiriniar of Inter Milan lined up as an alternative, but the Slovakian centre-back prefers to stay at San Siro as of now. (h/t Football.london)
Kounde, who joined from French side Bordeaux in 2019, already stated in May that he could leave his club in the summer. His statement was still, in many ways, diplomatic, but that is expected considering he is still under the Spanish side’s contract.
Kounde headed to Spurs?
“Regarding my future, it is certain that I will perhaps have to change clubs this summer, but nothing has been finalised yet, I have not decided anything. My goal is, one day, to evolve into a great club to always try to progress, win trophies.”
Spurs have a new boss in Nuno Espirito Santo and only time will reveal where he holds Sanchez in his pecking order. The South American defender, who was at the Copa America this summer, is just 25 right now.
Kounde, 22, has also never set foot in English football yet. With Jan Vertonghen’s departure in 2020, Spurs have looked like they need another leader alongside Toby Alderweireld.

The former Atletico Madrid and Southampton man has stated that he desires to leave Spurs in the summer, as per a report by The Athletic (Subscription Required) earlier this month. And that leaves Spurs in a precarious position where fans could prefer a situation where they sign Kounde without offering a centre-back in exchange.
