Transfer News: AC Milan want Franck Kessie to stay despite Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal interest
Speaking to DAZN (h/t The Mirror) in an interview, AC Milan technical director, Paolo Maldini, revealed that the club intends to keep Franck Kessie amid transfer interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
The Ivory Coast international is the subject of transfer interest from Spurs as well as Arsenal. Now in the final year of his contract at San Siro, Maldini hinted that he could be offered a new deal soon.
“He will be part of the future of Milan. We are working on his renewal.”
Kessie would undoubtedly add a good amount of strength and depth to the Lilywhites’ midfield. At 24, he has already amassed an impressive 184 appearances in all competitions for I Rossoneri.
Kessie to stay put?
With him now in the last 12 months of his Milan deal, interest from Spurs and the Gunners is not surprising. If he fails to agree to a new deal in Italy, Kessie could even leave as a free agent next year.
But with Milan’s intentions of keeping him and tying him down to a new deal, only time will tell if the Spurs faithful would ever be able to see the former Atalanta man don their club’s famous white jersey.
Kessie was also a source of goals from midfield for Milan last season, which is a bonus for any team. He racked up an impressive 14 goals and 6 assists from midfield in 50 appearances, showcasing both his goal-scoring ability as well as durability.
