Lamels who has been with Spurs since 2013 has struggled to establish himself as a firm regular in the starting XI. The Argentine is a joy to behold on his day but injuries and a lack of consistency have seen him become more of a Darren Anderton than say a David Ginola.
Still just 29, he now has an opportunity to rekindle his career in Spain. Whether he will experience better fortunes in La Liga remains to be seen. Lamela is set to sign a three-year contract with the Spanish side.
Gil, meanwhile, is still making his name in the game and has already won three caps for the Spanish national team. A left-winger, he is also versatile enough to play on the other flank and also as an attacking midfielder. He could come into his own as a top player in the years to come.
Gil has made 21 appearances for Sevilla, registering two goals and assists apiece. He was part of the La Liga club’s Europa League winning side in 2019/20. He also featured for Spain in their Under 19 European Championship in 2019.
