Tottenham new boss Nuno Espirito Santo wants former protege Adama Traore
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are interested in signing Wolves winger Adama Traore. The report adds that Wolves would not get in the player’s way if a bid of around £45m arrives with Traore having two years left on his current contract.
However, Tottenham could face competition from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea or Leeds United. (h/t Daily Mail)
Traore in the Premier League
Wolves signed Traore in 2018. However, with just 1 goal and 1 assist in the Premier League, Traore had a disappointing start at Molineux.
He burst onto the scene in the second season. With 4 goals and 9 assists, Traore was one of the main attacking threats for Nuno’s Wolves. The player has again shown struggles when it comes to productivity. In the 2020/2021 Premier League campaign, he scored just 2 goals in 37 league appearances.
Should Tottenham consider Adama Traore?
However, the Spaniard could still be worth the gamble for Tottenham Hotspur and he could be a valuable asset going forward.
The club’s interest in Traore could have arisen from their underwhelming options at right-wing.
Gareth Bale was signed last summer to solve the issue. The player has returned to Madrid for this season.

Lucas Moura is the only ‘natural’ right-wing option for Spurs. However, Steven Bergwijn has been deployed there at times. Regardless, both players have struggled for consistency when it comes to getting regular starts down that side.
Hence, Traore could be a possible solution if Nuno wants a replacement for Bale.
As mentioned above, his productivity in front of the goal is still a big issue. It’s a question of patience by Tottenham. If the club are looking for a goal-threat to support Kane and Son from the get-go, Traore might not be the best option if we go by his Premier League track record in front of goal.
