Transfer News: Tottenham to allow Japhet Tanganga to leave
According to transfer news from Fanatik (h/t Mirror), Tottenham are prepared to let Japhet Tanganga leave on loan. Galatasaray have been in talks with Spurs over the loan move, while personal terms are believed to be agreed already.
Having come through Tottenham’s youth system, Tanganga, 22, made his senior bow under former boss Mauricio Pochettino in a League Cup tie against Colchester in September 2019. He was then promoted to the first-team. But he had to wait until January 2020 to make his Premier League debut.
A favourite of Jose Mourinho, Tanganga has been a useful player for the club. A natural centre-back, Tanganga has often had to feature in a right-back role to accommodate other players. Despite a bright start to his career at the club, he struggled with injuries last season, where he just made 6 league appearances.
While it looked as if he was someone Spurs might bank on for the future, Tanganga is instead heading out on loan to Galatasaray. Personal terms are said to be agreed already and only a loan fee is left to be discussed by the two clubs. For now, it looks like a loan-to-buy deal but it’s unclear whether Spurs will include the buy-out option.

It’s rather weird given that Tanganga is a talented player and one of the better options for the club. Unfortunately, his injuries have been keeping him out of action. A loan move to Galatasaray might help in bringing back his career on track. However, Spurs would be wise to not include the option to buy.
