Sunderland linked with Tottenham starlet Dennis Cirkin
According to Football Insider (h/t Sunderland Echo), Sunderland are in advanced talks over Tottenham starlet Dennis Cirkin. Sunderland are in the market to sign a full-back and they are said to be after the English defender from Spurs.
A youth product of the club’s academy, Cirkin is a promising 19-year-old left-back. He has featured 25 times for the club’s U18 team, scoring four goals and setting up two more. The England U-19 international has also turned out 21 times for the U23s as well, assisting two goals. (h/t Transfermarkt)
The youngster is yet to make an appearance for the first team though. He has made it as close to the bench on five occasions but has not gotten the nod. Cirkin could now be set for a move away from the club as Sunderland were said to be keeping tabs on him after an exodus of their full-backs.
It would seem that talks are in an advanced stage between Sunderland and Spurs over the transfer for Cirkin. The Black Cats have been in the market to sign full-backs after the departures of Conor McLaughlin and Callum McFadzean. A deal for Tony Gallacher also collapsed and now they have turned their attention to the Spurs starlet.

With Spurs currently having Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon in the side as well as the returning Ryan Sessegnon, the path to the first team seems blocked for Cirkin. A move away is perhaps best for his career and Spurs might also feel the same and allow him to leave in case Sunderland come in with an offer.
