Transfer News: Tottenham want Dominic Calvert-Lewin as Kane replacement
According to transfer news from The Football Terrace (h/t Express), Tottenham can make a possible move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The Everton striker is being seen as a possible replacement for Harry Kane whose future could be away from Spurs from the looks of it.
It felt like a matter of time before Spurs would be in this situation with Kane. The striker has been relentless for the club over the last 6-7 years, scoring goals for fun. Yet, during that time trophies have failed to follow as Spurs have fallen short at various stages. The closest Kane got his hands on a big trophy was in the 2019 Champions League final and the Carabao Cup earlier this year.
Kane’s future poses a major problem for the Lilywhites. Spurs don’t really have another established striker in the side apart from the England captain. Carlos Vinicius was not signed on a permanent deal while Gareth Bale has also returned to Real Madrid. Thus, it has left the forward line a bit thin with only Son Heung-min suited to chip in on the role sometimes.
Spurs want Calvert-Lewin
With Kane’s departure still a very likely possibility, journalist Pete O’Rourke believes that Spurs can move for Everton hitman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (h/t Express).
“I still wonder that if Kane does go, possibly a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin at Everton. He’s definitely on Tottenham’s radar. They see him as a potential number nine and Tottenham see him as potential replacement material.”
It’s not without reason though. The English striker bagged an impressive 21 goals and five assists in 39 games for Everton last season. He was called up to the Euros as well to act as Kane’s deputy. A classic, old-school frontman, Calvert-Lewin showed last season that he has what it takes to be a top goal-getter.

Spurs’ priority would always be to keep Kane at all costs. In the event that is not possible, looking to replace him with Calvert-Lewin is not a shabby idea. He is a striker that thrives on service and can be a good fit for this new-look side under Nuno Espirito Santo.
