Arsenal want to hijack move for Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu
According to Tuttosport (h/t ESPN), Arsenal are looking to hijack a move for Tottenham target Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Gunners want to make further additions to their defence after signing Ben White. Spurs have been after the €20million-rated Tomiyasu for a while now.
It’s not really a secret that Spurs are going through a mini rebuild of theirs. Specific areas of the squad are being refreshed for Nuno Espirito Santo. Out went Erik Lamela to be replaced by Bryan Gil. Toby Alderweireld’s departure was met with Cristian Romero’s arrival. Lastly, Pierluigi Gollini took the place of Joe Hart.
However, one defender that has long been linked to Spurs is Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese defender from Bologna was close to finalising a move and an opening bid was made only to be rejected. However, there was the confidence that a deal could be worked out probably after the player returned from the Olympics.
It would seem rivals Arsenal are out there to play spoilsport in this regard. Arsenal have already signed a new defender in Ben White this season but they are planning to hijack Spurs’ move for Tomiyasu. Currently, the Bologna defender is valued at a modest €20m, which might not be a hassle to most clubs.

Spurs will need to act fast if they want to get their man ahead of their rivals. Tomiyasu is a quality defender who is valued at a modest fee. Despite the addition of Cristian Romero, Spurs could use another player in the backline, given the other options in the side are Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez.
