Manchester City and Tottenham make progress in Harry Kane transfer talks
According to journalist Ian McGarry (h/t Express), Tottenham Hotspur have entered into negotiations with Manchester over a potential move for Harry Kane this summer. The English international is interested in a move to Man City this season, who have already spent £100million on the signing of Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Tottenham have not been keen on letting their forward leave this summer, which was evidenced when they rejected City’s first bid for the player earlier this summer of £100million.
Pep Guardiola confirmed the club’s interest in the player earlier this month, however, he also talked about they cannot sign Kane if Spurs are not interested in negotiating for the England captain. (h/t The Express)
“He (Kane) is a player for Tottenham Hotspur, and if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it is finished. I think Man City and many clubs in the world want to try to sign him, we are not an exception, but it depends on Tottenham”.
This has been Tottenham’s stance all summer, however, things seem to have changed now. According to Ian McGarry, the North London club have entered into negotiations for the player with Manchester City. While speaking to Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast (h/t Express), he said:
“It is our information that negotiations with Tottenham are ongoing with regards to trying to find an agreeable price for Kane. Daniel Levy is continuing to hold out for at least a fee in excess of £120m.”

Thus, it seems like Kane could be a Manchester City player by the end of the summer. While a deal might not be possible by the weekend, it would be interesting to see whether Kane makes it onto the pitch for Tottenham to face his prospective employers in Man City as Spurs start their 2021/22 Premier League season campaign on Sunday against Guardiola’s men.
