Transfer News: Tottenham ready to go after Arsenal target Houssem Aouar
According to transfer news from Mirror (h/t Daily Mail), Tottenham are all set to swoop for Arsenal target Houssem Aouar. Our rivals, Arsenal have gone on to sign Martin Odegaard which means Spurs now have a clear shot at Aouar.
A youth product of Lyon, Aouar has been with the club since his childhood. Progressing through the various youth levels, he broke into the first team in 2017. Since then, he has been a regular in the first team and it was his displays in 2019/20 that really thrust him into the limelight. He was a part of the Lyon side that went all the way to the Champions League semi-finals.
Since then, Aouar has been on the radar of several clubs, most notably Arsenal. However, a deal could not be agreed over the last season and it looked as if they would return for him. Instead, they have gone for a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid. That has left Spurs with a clear road for Aouar. (h/t Daily Mail)
Lyon chief Juninho is keen to offload the Frenchman and could even accept a bid lower than his £25m valuation. Spurs boss Nuno Espirito Santo is actually keen on the midfielder as he wants to bolster the attacking options he has at his disposal. Now, Tottenham are all set to move for him with Arsenal out of the way.
