Transfer News: Tottenham receive a blow in chase for Lautaro Martinez

According to transfer news from reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham have received a blow in their pursuit of Lautaro Martinez. The Inter Milan striker could end up extending his contract with the club in the coming weeks after a meeting. Spurs and Atletico Madrid have seen their earlier bids rejected as well.

What a headache Harry Kane has given to Spurs and that too at a time when the side is trying to reboot after a rather poor season. He wants to leave the club and Manchester City are trying their level best to make his wishes come true (h/t Metro). However, Spurs and Kane are at an impasse as the club are not keen to sanction any sale, especially to a rival side.

With so much uncertainty around Kane’s future, there were a few options Spurs had kept an eye on as backups. There was Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan as the primary names being considered as replacements for Kane. Martinez is someone Spurs had shown interest in to the point a deal worth €60million was agreed upon.

However, it seems Martinez might not be heading to Spurs or Atletico Madrid after all. Both sides had sent in bids that were rejected. Now, he is set to put pen to paper on fresh terms at Inter Milan after a meeting between the club and his agent. The new contract could be finalised soon as claimed by Fabrizio Romano.
