Transfer News: Tottenham to pass up on Nahitan Nandez

According to transfer news from Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Tottenham have taken the decision to pass up on Nahitan Nandez. Spurs had made contact over a potential deal but no official bid was made. As of now, the club will not pursue Nandez and are already looking at other names as targets.

The diminutive midfielder from Uruguay spent his developmental years at Penarol in his homeland. He then moved to Argentina with Boca Juniors and his impressive displays made him a familiar name to European clubs. However, it was not until 2019 that he would make a move to Europe when he signed for Cagliari.

Nahitan Nandez joined Cagliari in 2019 and has been linked with a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur recently.

A versatile customer on the field, Nandez has the ability to play anywhere across the midfield and even on the flanks if required. Last season, he showed his value to the club as he helped save the club from relegation with his performances. Spurs were among some of the clubs to show some level of interest in the midfielder.

However, it does not seem like a deal is on the cards after all. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano clarified that Spurs did have contact with the Italian side over the last week but no official bid was sent across. Now, they are not keen to buy the player under current circumstances. Spurs have already turned their attention to other targets and no further talks will take place regarding Nandez. It’s a shame Spurs are passing up on a talented player like Nandez. Although, quite why they are doing so remains a tad vague even at this point. The 25-year-old would have had the potential to be a smart and astute signing for the club with his tenacity and versatility. Nonetheless, other targets are what Spurs are after now.
