Transfer News: Bernardo Silva rejects Tottenham Hotspur move
According to transfer news from The Atheltic (Subscription Required) [h/t Daily Star], Bernardo Silva has rejected a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Manchester City star was expected to be offered in a deal for Harry Kane. However, he is not keen on that action and prefers a move to Spain.
The transfer window is set to close within the next 10 days but there is still a transfer saga brewing which includes Spurs, Man City and most importantly, Harry Kane. So far, it has followed in this manner- City have been after Kane for a large part of the summer. And Kane wants the move as he feels he has an agreement with Spurs that allows him to leave.
Spurs and Daniel Levy have stuck to their guns and want £160million for their star man. An interesting event took place last weekend when Kane was absent for the game against City. The Citizens have been adamant so far in their efforts and are still hoping that somehow a deal can be put in place within the limited time left.
There was the idea that they could reduce the asking price for Kane by offering a star player like Bernardo in part exchange. However, that will not be happening. The Atheltic (Subscription Required) [h/t Daily Star] can confirm that the midfielder is not keen on a move to Spurs and prefers a move to Spain instead.
“Talks have been held over several days and it had been suggested that Bernardo could move to Tottenham as part of an overall package to take Kane to the Etihad Stadium, but the Portugal international is against the idea and instead prefers a move to Spain.”

This should not bother Spurs much because the first and foremost objective is to keep Kane. Spurs are under no pressure to sell and that hefty valuation will need to be met. Now, with Bernardo rejecting to be part of the deal, City may just find it more difficult to land the 28-year-old England international.
